NOBEL PRIZE NOMINATION SUBMISSION (ONE MORE)

OCTOBER, 6 2024

DR SRIKANTH SRINIVASAN KIDAMBI

I would like to nominate myself for my work on the impact of quality of healthcare on COVID deaths. This work is similar to Semmelweis effect, which brings together statistical analysis, economics, medicine together to address COVID mortality rates across the globe.

For example, among developed nations, countries with fractional of healthcare expenditure and higher median age has performed better than countries that spends a lot more on healthcare. This work would clearly show how important is quality in the whole equation, which gets aggravated with poor leadership and corruption across board.

How is this connected to peace? Many times issues such as COVID deaths becomes a great political back drop for those with power to potentially cause confusion and point fingers at other sections or other countries of the world rather than seeing what is going on inside. By bringing clarity into the equation, I believe that this work would most likely assist in minimizing differences between people across the world, thus improving world order, and peace.

My token thought on this matter:

As my father always used to say, "first we have to take care of ourselves before we take care of others". The COVID deaths appear to be a great example, where when the countries were reeling with COVID deaths and more, there was also an influx of people from other countries, which further complicated the situation. This unusual dynamics along with quality issues complicated the situation, and resulted in more deaths than what I believe should have been the case. This work also presents support for this finding through indirect analysis, as direct analysis is very difficult due to the nature of situation that we were/are dealing with.

Migratory population management is essential, but who is being brought into a country that has lesser corruption is important. For example, if there is a sudden influx of people from a country known for corruption into a country, which is rated higher on the corruption list among developed nations, such influx would worsen the situation due to group ism, cronyism and more, and if these two countries determine the world order, it is not going to be good for the world as well.
